All things bright and beautiful – A summer wedding in the New Forest

I was very excited when I met Victoria and James and heard all about their summer wedding at Moorhill House in Burley, the New Forest.

Victoria thought their guests would be expecting them to have a wedding full of soft pinks and ivory, so they wanted to go for something different and give everyone a bit of a surprise! I’m a massive fan of colour so was delighted to hear their wedding brief – ‘the brighter the better’. Amazing!

Summer is a fantastic time of year for flowers and colour – there are so many to choose from. We went with a mix of bright pink, orange, yellow, purple, blue and lime green. Lots of roses, delphiniums, freesia, clematis, craspedia, lisianthus, asclepia, statice, alchemilla mollis and plenty of lovely ferns and foliage, including some lovely British Pittosporum (which I may have pinched from my Mum’s garden…Thanks Mum!).

Victoria held a hand-tied bouquet in all the colours. To make it extra special we used some really stunning roses – Vuvuzela and Pink Piano. So many ruffles and such incredible colours! The bridesmaids held posies in similar colours and the guys all had mismatched buttonholes in a mix of flowers.

Victoria and James wanted something with real impact for their Reception flowers. Tall vases were topped with a dome of bright flowers and cascading foliage and ferns. These were placed on round mirrors with tealights and a scattering of crystals. The top table was dressed with a long and low design, packed full of bright flowers, again with plenty of lovely foliage and ferns. The tall vases and bright colours certainly made an impression as you walked in the room!

I’m so happy that Victoria and James chose me to be their wedding florist. It was such a fun wedding to work on, I loved every minute!

Huge thanks to Dave Jackson Photography for these stunning images.
